Seascape is situated on Woolacombe Rise, a lovely family friendly cul-de-sac, which overlooks the award winning beach. From the house it is just a short walk across the fields to the coast. You are only a stone's throw from the golden sands of Woolacombe beach.

For the second year in a row Woolacombe beach has been voted as the number one beach in the UK on TripAdvisor. It also holds the England for Excellence Gold Award for being the best family resort.

Woolacombe lies between Morte Point and Baggy Point and stretches for three miles along the North Devon coast. The beach is known for its golden sand, its cleanliness, its superior water quality and its excellent facilities, which include life guards on duty throughout the peak summer months.

There are several excellent pubs and restaurants in Woolacombe. These include the family-run Fortescue Arms, Jack's Eatery, The Jube, The Boardwalk Bar and Restaurant and the popular Red Barn. There are also many different ice cream parlours and take away restaurants to suit all tastes.

The Victorian seaside town of Ilfracombe is home to contemporary artist Damien Hirst's 'Verity', a 60 foot bronze clad statue that overlooks the harbour. The artist's restaurant, '11, The Quay' can also be found by the harbour. For more experienced surfers the beaches at Croyde and Saunton may provide a better playground with more challenging conditions available.

Fishermen will love the charters offered by boats setting sail from Ilfracombe. Bristol Channel Charters offer a range of fishing and diving trips around the North Devon coastline, as well as a series of sea safaris. The Ilfracombe Princess, a 100 seat passenger catamaran, is also an excellent way to see the coastal scenery, as well as catching glimpses of some of the local marine life, including seals and dolphins.

Sitting just off the North Devon coastline and visible from Seascape is Lundy Island. The scenic island can be reached via the MS Oldenburg, which docks at Ilfracombe and Bideford, and is well worth a day trip. The island has wonderful views, stunning scenery and a range of wildlife. Whilst visiting Lundy spend time walking the hills, climbing the rugged cliffs and diving down below the surface of the water to discover why this stunning area has been designated as a Marine Conservation Area. Finish your day at the island's one and only pub - the Marisco Tavern, which serves a number of homemade dishes, including burgers and pasties.

For any guest looking for an alternative exhilarating activity then why not consider tandem hang gliding? Just across the road from Seascape is the Woolacombe Riding Stables. Nestled in the valley, the British Horse Society and Pony Club approved equestrian centre is able to provide rides for all levels of riders. As well as offering inland treks, the stables also specialises in beach rides for more experienced riders.

There is a plethora of excellent golf courses in North Devon perfect for getting in a round whilst staying at Seascape. The nearest course is at the Woolacombe and Mortehoe Golf Club, which has wonderful coastline views. Alternatively, there is Willingcott and Ilfracombe, both of which are nearby. For something a little more challenging, Saunton Golf Club is recognised as one of the best in the UK and offers two championship 18-hole links courses.

The North Devon coastline and stunning countryside are the perfect place for walking and cycling. The nearby South West Coast Path is easily accessible in Woolacombe and features various trails for visitors to follow. Easier pathways for all the family to enjoy include those to the nearby town of Braunton, and a leisurely easy access walk to Baggy Point.

The Tarka Trail is a traffic free 30 mile pathway for both cyclists and walkers. The route which begins in Braunton takes advantage of the old North Devon railway line as it winds its way along the estuary to Barnstaple, and then across to Bideford, before finishing in Meeth. The route is ideal for families with young children, and bikes can be hired locally if required.

For more experienced walkers and cyclists the country lanes around Georgeham and Ilfracombe feature several challenging climbs.

A trip to North Devon would not be complete without visiting the Exmoor National Park. Covering more than 250 square miles, Exmoor is a beautiful place for seeing the wild Exmoor ponies, the magnificent red deer and the purple heather-coated hills and valleys. Make the most of your trip to the National Park by stopping off at one of the many pubs or tea rooms for a traditional cream tea.

There are many family friendly attractions within easy reach of Seascape. Some of the more popular attractions include The Big Sheep, The Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, and Exmoor Zoo. There are also a number of National Trust estates to explore and several beautiful gardens.
